Testimonials

“Our early years classes have thoroughly enjoyed using these, and the children have been very enthusiastic. The staff have commented on how easy they are to implement and also how they link to other areas of the curriculum.

Staff have noticed an improvement in listening, turn taking and the use of descriptive language with the children who participated in the pilot. They have also noted an increase in confidence of those children as they eagerly, willingly and confidently demonstrate the activities to the other children and staff. The children have brought what they have learned from these sessions into the school and nursery environment, and at home. ”

“As a school we encourage children to take part in activities which promote mindfulness and a sense of calm. YogiROOTS™ tied in really nicely with this and we were able to make reference to skills that the children had previously about stopping, being still and noticing their bodies, their feelings, and their surroundings.

Awakening Our Senses was a lovely settling activity which focussed and engaged pupils. Teachers in classes where pupils find transitioning back into learning after playtime/lunchtime quite challenging have also utilised this activity in classrooms.

Some children from our nurture room who find building connections with others challenging engaged well with the Just be… and Let’s Connect activities and enjoyed working with a partner. It is lovely to see them utilising social and communication skills so well, and children are sitting straighter and more aware of their posture. ”

“Years 3-6 loved the Grounding activity! Some children were very excited being allowed to take off their shoes and socks and run around the grass and other surfaces, it was fantastic to watch. We did the indoor version too and it worked very well with bubble wrap and other textures, and some children started doing it in class too. They said they found it soothing.”

YogiLeaders™

YogiLeaders™ Program

What is it:
This programme is the first of its kind. A truly innovative approach using Yoga & Wellbeing as the tool for giving pupils responsibility, developing leadership, cultivating transferrable life skills, and increasing the activity levels of younger children.

Children working in a group on the floor to plan a session
How does it work:
A small group of Year 5/6 aged pupils take part in a full day of training to become YogiLeaders™ . Their training culminates with them delivering a number of Yoga & Wellbeing based games and activities to a Reception- Year 2 class. The natural pathway from this training is for this group of YogiLeaders™ to:

  • Deliver activities during recess or lunchtime for younger children
  • Deliver transition activities for early years children coming up to the Primary Schools, and new Reception / Year 1 classes
  • Deliver activities during school Health Weeks / Sports Days
  • Work with small groups of younger children who need that extra level of nurturing opportunities

Children working in pairs and copying postures
What makes this program different to other programs out there:
YogiLeaders™ are ultimately responsible for planning and delivering all sessions. They learn how to structure a session, risk asses their environment, support younger children with engagement in the activity, and ensure all children feel included.

Course Testimonials

“Enhanced children’s enjoyment of outdoor learning. Helped give group a focus when exploring the outdoors and added to the list of activities that counted towards their John Muir Award.”

“A very worthwhile course full of practical ideas to use within classroom Health and Wellbeing and Gym lessons with all stages. It was particularly helpful to take part in the activities to learn strategies for organising and managing a class and resources/equipment during yoga sessions. Resource Pack covers all main teaching points from the course and includes lots of handy illustrations to support the written material.”

“I delivered Yoga to 5 out of 7 classes during their PE lessons for a block of 6 sessions. The children really enjoyed it and they were very positive on how it affected them and made them feel more relaxed and calm.”

“I enjoyed delivering yoga lessons both as an independent PE focus and as a cool down or part of a dance lesson. It was useful tool to calm the class after really active PE sessions. The children were keen to embed yoga moves in our dance which they choreographed themselves.”

“A fantastic course which I really enjoyed, well organised and a good range of activities to suit all age ranges and abilities. I hope I get more opportunities to use it within my class settings.”

“I found it calmed the class down, they enjoyed the periods of quiet and also team building when they did the challenges with a partner. I used it to enhance discussion and talking and listening as well as learning to perform in front of their peers, and it was great for listening. The children were very keen every week and now ask for yoga or can remember the poses we did. I found it really good to use with storytelling for the infants as well. The school has yoga mats and a selection of yoga books as well. ”
